Jennifer Carpenter Bio

Jennifer Leann Carpenter (born December 7th, 1979) is an American actress. Her credits include Debra Morgan, a Showtime series, for which she received a Saturn Award in 2009. She also played Rebecca Harris, whose role was featured on the CBS television show Limitless. In the year 2019, she started playing Erica Shepherd (the lead role on NBC's drama The Enemy Within). Carpenter's performance in The Exorcism of Emily Rose was her first major hit. Carpenter was awarded the 2006 MTV Movie Award in "Best Frightened Actress" and also received a Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award. She was also named Breakout Performer during the 2006 Scream Awards. In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They were married on New Years Eve in 2008 in California. Hall and Carpenter issued a December 2010 statement announcing they declared divorce following being separated for "for some time". The divorce was approved in December of 2011 because of irreconcilable disagreements. But they remain close to each other. Carpenter and Seth Avett became engaged on February 10 in 2015. In August of 2015, it was revealed that Carpenter was expecting in the month of May to a son and admitted that she was eight-and-a-half months pregnant when shooting the pilot episode of Limitless. Carpenter and Avett got married in May of 2016.
